National Lottery

Hi All

Do you participate in the lottery. if so why not open an account through our Web Shop-The Club gets a commission but once you have gone through the "Signing Up " procedure which takes a few minutes then its a piece of cake- save forgetting to do your usual numbers & the chance to be a winner-no going to the shops & being tempted to buy other things. They even check the entry & send you an email if you win.
I have opened an account and got a lucky dip to kick me off so get ready if you are coming to the Commodores Welcome as I will be buying the drinks out of my winnings-How many can you get for £10- but as they say it could be YOU.

Regards to all

John

VHF RADIO COURSE

Dear Members,

Would you like to obtain a VHF radio licence which is in fact a legal requirement if you have such equipment on your boat.
We can arrange an RYA course at the Pike and Eel , I will find out the cost for this year and post here and in the newsletter, but last year it was £90 which included the £22 licence fee, the course is limited to a maximum of 10 people.
Please contact:- Linda Skelton, Assistant Secretary on 01462 637592 or email me at
linda.skelton2@ntlworld.com if you would like to book a place.

I hope you have all now received your invitation sent in the post on 4th April.

To assist us with the catering if you can make the event please let me know as soon as possible .

If you have a neighbour or friend at the Marina or indeed a boater moored elsewhere please invite them along for the evening so they can get a taster for the Club & they may be interested in joining.

Look forward to seeing you soon.

More website changes

In response to Riverside Marine & Leisure adding a section about the PEBC to their website www.boatsaleuk.com we have added a link to them in our contacts section (www.pike-eelboatclub.co.uk/contacts.htm)

Whilst updating the contacts section, I noticed that our directions could do with a map, so I have added a google map to the page. I also registered the clubs details with google so that we appear as a pushpin on the map. Visitors can also have the option of enlarging the map, which opens in a new page and would allow them to use google maps to plan directions to the Pike from anywhere they wish.

The Pike and Eel Boat Club Needs You.

I have been thinking about posters and such for the Regatta and came up with this. What do you think?

Webshop

You may notice a new link on the home page, which is a link to our new buy.at/pikeandeel shop. The shop is basically a collection of online retailers including some of the biggest names such as Asda, HMV, Tesco, Next, John Lewis and many more. When members click through to the online shops, the sellers know that the buyer has come through our page and they will pay the club commission on everything bought. More details are available at the shop, but if every member went through the pike and eel shop to do their online shopping, we could raise a fair bit of revenue for the club to subsidise future events. Happy Shopping. Oh, by the way, the price you will pay is guaranteed to be the same price you would pay if you visited the companies sites direct.

Google Search

I have added a Google Search Bar to the introduction page on the PEBC website. Hopefully this will make the site more functional and will encourage people to stop by more often. It also means that if you are involved with the club, you could even set it as your home page. If you have an opinion as to whether this is a good or bad thing, please leave comments below.

Cheers

Steve Mead
